It’s graduation season and there are some great stories out there of people who have gone the extra mile.
Let’s talk about 17-year-old Azariya McClendon, who will have much to celebrate during this graduation season. McClendon graduated from high school and from college, KSLA reports, on the same day.
McClendon received an associate’s degree from Bossier Parish Community College.
Then just a short time later, she graduated from Ringgold High Schoolin Louisiana.
The superintendent for Bienville Parish school system says Azariya is the first to accomplish this goal, according to KSLA.
“Honestly, it’s still kind of hard to believe,” McClendon says. “It hasn’t really set in yet, but I’m excited.”
McClendon was in a dual-enrollment program and took classes from BPCC while she was in high school. She says she started taking college classes as a freshman, and finished her high school curriculum as a sophomore.
Don’t worry. The kid wasn’t just a bookworm. She also played basketball, softball and was a cheerleader.
McClendon plans on going to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to major in biology. She wants to go to medical school at Louisiana State University in Shreveport afterward to become a doctor of obstetrics and gynecology.
